IMPORTANT NOTESThe Just for New Teachers Conference is open to MTA members in their first four years of practice. NEA/MTA student members entering the final year of an educator preparation program or who have completed student teaching are also invited, as are any other students enrolled in education degree programs. Districts may register individuals or groups by calling 800.392.6175, ext. 8153. This conference partially fulfills school districts’ obligation to provide an induction program for all new teachers (603 CMR 7.00). The MTA will provide participants with a record of sessions attended.

“Using New Technologies to Make Learning Visible”

 Join the Lesley STEAM TEAM for a hands-on exploration of tools and strategies that help make student learning visible and further support the development of skills related to problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration and identity affirmation. The tools and strategies that we will explore include Green Screen, Stop Motion Animation, and eBooks. The apps used will include DoInk, Stop Motion Studio Pro, and Book Creator. Feel free to bring your own technology or use our technology if that is more convenient.

Teach the Presidential Election: K-12

Teach the Presidential election for every learner! These technology infused creative classroom activities are ready to use today.  Resources, and tools are available for free at www.GrowingVoters.org a non-partisan educational effort to enliven and motivate student engagement in the political process. These are designed for elementary students to college level for use in a range of subject areas and have already been downloaded by educators in all 50 U.S. states. Well-organized classrooms seem to run themselves.  In this workshop, experienced teachers will share their best tips for organizing resources and materials, staying on top of student records, preparing for parent-conferences and IEPs, being ready for absences, and training your students to understand and know classroom procedures and rules.
