Please join us at the MTA’s 2019 Summer Conference being held at UMass Amherst, August 4-7. Summer Conference has something for everyone, including workshops on union skills, leadership and professional development. Participants may attend for a day or stay for the whole conference to take advantage of all this event has to offer. We have dozens of great professional development workshops this year, including six two-day sessions where participants can earn up to 15 PDPs in ELL or SPED! Some of our other PD-oriented workshops include:
• Collaborative Teaching: Designing a Successful Environment for ELs in a General Ed Classroom
• Culturally Responsive SEL: The Transformative Justice Approach
• Integrating Mindfulness into Your School Community
• LGBTQ 101 – Identity, Vocabulary and Inclusive Practices
• Multiple Texts, Multiple Viewpoints: Teaching Synthesis of Ideas and Language
• The Use of Escape Rooms in the Assessment of Middle School Standards Mastery
• Using Technology to Support Executive Functioning
Participants will also have the opportunity to earn up to two graduate credits from Fitchburg State University. (See page ii of the Summer Conference Guide.)
